This combined with jQuery, both of which are free (yes, FREE!) means you can take your static or dynamic tables, populated by Ajax methods, and instantly filter and sort it as required, fully styled to match your needs.
So thank you DataTables.net, I've happily donated to your excellent project.

Email Migration to the Cloud and Duplicates

Like the old adage of a plumbers leaking tap never gets fixed, I had been running my own server to host all my email and try to keep all the various devices and access methods in sync, and should have really moved to a cloud based solution far sooner than I had.
So, with a spare day I took the plunge and after weighing up the differences between Office365 (from Microsoft) and Google Apps, given that I'm still very much an Outlook kinda guy Office 365 just managed to pip Google to the post - and I'm happy to admit, some of Microsoft's products are brilliant, Visual Studio and SQL Server Management being a couple of the jewels for me. That said, I do think the Google Appsoffering is probably a better rounded solution, and if you do not use Outlook then I would seriously consider it. Once down to the actual task at and having done many migrations of data, email and systemsfor corporates, the basic nuts and bolts was pretty easy, and getting a seamless transition of emails flowing the right way was simple.
My problem laid in my archives! With 25GB I thought I'd put a couple of my old archives on there as well, however from some time back one of the PST's had 3 copies of every message, not good.
Searching around for a duplicate remover, I found this: http://www.vaita.com/ODIR.asp- Not only does it work very well for email messages (checksthe email message ID so will only get genuine duplicates), it's free! While the interface does look a little basic, this is a genuine case of function over form, as it has everything you need, and just works. The fact it still works on Outlook 2010 shows what a robust little tool this is.
So, thank you VAitA, for publishing a splendid little addin for us all.

Here he outlines the concept, like using sprites for mouseovers, of scrolling the background which has been used to great effect here and on Sealeys.
To work with this effect you do need the usual jQuery library and the background scrolling plugin.
The images on top are layered and use the builtin jQuery .fadeIn() and .fadeOut().

Bloomberg ADE Tool

As a final part of the business analyst and data architect offering for the Bloomberg AIM migration, pureCygnet developed an onlinetool for reporting on the Bloomberg AIM user permissions (both functions and accounts / groups).
Thistakes the Extended Admin Feed, imports it into a SQL database with different sections going to different tables. The front end (ASP.NET) gives the user the options to browse users in the AIM system, assign users to arbitary regions and departments and generate reports for function permissions and account permissions. The reports can be filtered by the arbitary groups specified, or by the User Groups specified in the Bloomberg AIM admin interface.
These reports have been used for their quarterly SAS70 audits as a structured means to show the Portfolio Managerswho has access to what accounts, and to then be signed off.
If you would like to know more about pureCygnet's offering, or would like a similar system developed, please contact us.

Sealeys - Estate Agents

Our bespoke codebase, Vilicus version 1.1 has now been launched for our client, Sealeys Estate Agents (www.sealeys.co.uk). Their site features a full listing of their properties for rent and for sale, along with a full managment system to allow them to update the details as required.
The front end site features some Ajax, some jQuery and a lot of style (thanks to CarrotTop Designs).
Other features include the automated upload of their whole portfolio (including images, floorplans and EPCs)to Rightmove, Zoopla, Property Live and Kent Homes (with more feeds being added as required)- This obviously reduces the significantadministrative burden of having to update all the portals seperately, allowing them to put even more detail into their clients particulars.

After some very productive meetings, and distilling their requirements we found out about photography service offerings. We distilled the choices to three main providers - Eventually deciding in Zenfolio due to it's UK locations, agnostic purchasing options, well rounded eCommmerce setup and it'sintegration in Adobe Lightroom.
We continued the offering by customising the layout and themes to match their business palettes. If you need any professional photography, do get in touch with MRM Photography!
